WE REMEMBER THE MARTYRS OF HALABJA WİTH MERCY!

16 March 2019 00:00

Conscience cannot bear the atrocities of Halabja. Today it is time to remember the ruthless Saddam not with mercy but with condemnation. It is time to demand accountability for the 5,000 people who lost their lives today. Throughout the history of mankind, different regions have been victims of various devastations, great wars and ruthless massacres that violated the conscience. The traces of some of these atrocities still stand before us today and haunt us deeply. The massacre carried out by the Iraqi army under the leadership of Saddam Hussein on 16 March 1988 in Halabja using chemical gases is undoubtedly one of the most significant of them. According to official figures, around 5,000 people lost their lives as a result of this massacre, while thousands became disabled or were exposed to deadly diseases.
Unofficial figures suggest that this number is even higher. In addition, the effects of the gases have led to a significant increase in disability in Halabja and the surrounding area. As the Federation of Inclusive Components, we strive to emphasise on every platform that human life is sacred and inviolable. On this occasion, we remember with gratitude the victims of the Halabja massacre and wish a speedy recovery to those who have been disabled.
